Defragmenting the game to decrease long load times

What Does Defragmenting Mean?

Fragmentation occurs when a file system cannot or will not allocate enough space to store a complete file as a unit, but instead puts parts of it in gaps between other files.  Fragmentation of files causes slow down of PC and gaming console's loading times due to the equipments inability to find the files in a quick and efficient manner. Defragmentation is a process that reduces the amount of fragmentation within a file structure.  It does this by physically organizing the contents of the mass storage device used to store files into the smallest number of adjacent regions (fragments). It also attempts to create larger regions of free space using compaction to impede the return of fragmentation.

This process will require re-downloading some files of our game. This download size is dependant on the amount of file fragmentation that your Storage device is experiencing.

To complete a defragmentation:

  1. Open the game launcher to the «Launcher» screen.
  2. Press and hold the Left Bumper, Right Bumper, and Y. Hold these buttons until the graphic on the bottom right hand side of the screen begin to flash.
  3. At this time, you will not be able to see the progress of this action.
  4. Once the graphic has completed flashing, then the defragmentation process has completed.  Once this process completes, please log in and play a few rounds.
